Richland, Washington-
Washington State Superintendent of Public Education, Christ Reykdal, will visit the WSU Tri-Cities campus on Saturday to talk about the importance of education in the state.
The event provided an opportunity for local educators and administrators to learn about topics such as STEM education, leadershops, inclusion, diversity equity and access (IDEA).
The $15 event included lunch for the 6 hour event.
Reykdal has led the Washington State Department of Education Oversight since 2017. He centers his work on equity by providing and helping provide transparency to school districts.
Reykdal’s presentation focused on bilingual education in the state.
“We have developed a fantastic curriculum designed for teachers, principals, and others in education that aligns with student success, innovative educational strategies, and generally how to better reach students through educational technology. I have a schedule.”
Over 130 teachers from Tri-Cities and surrounding areas attended the event, hoping to inspire and educate future generations.
Reykdal himself is a WSU alumnus and later received a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
