Hawaii Department of Health reports 2 more monkeypox cases, bringing statewide to 25

The Hawaii Department of Health announced two new cases of monkeypox today, bringing the total number of cases reported in the state since early June to 25.
The DOH said it has identified an additional case in an Oahu resident with a history of out-of-state travel and another in a Hawaii Island resident under investigation. This comes just days after an additional case was confirmed on Oahu on .
The tally currently includes 18 from Oahu, including non-residents, 3 from Hawaii, 2 from Maui, and 2 non-residents from Kauai.
The DOH said it continues to conduct contact tracing and follow-up for all reported cases.
Additionally, the Jynneos vaccine for monkeypox is available statewide to eligible residents.
All vaccination facilities primarily offer intradermal vaccination, which is administered under the skin rather than in muscle tissue, according to the DOH. It provides the same high level of protection from the monkeypox virus while protecting against
According to the DOH, approximately 1,270 vials of Ginneo are available in Hawaii, with each vial providing four to five servings. More than 2,000 doses have been administered.
The Jynneos vaccine is a series of two doses given at least 28 days apart. DOH has an appointment for his second dose.
Immunization eligibility for Hawaii residents includes:
>> Have been in close contact with someone who has or is suspected to have monkeypox in the past 14 days.
>> Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, and transgender individuals with multiple or anonymous sex partners;
>>People with severe immunocompromise (e.g., advanced HIV infection, aggressive cancer treatment, high-dose steroids) or certain skin conditions such as eczema; AND those with family members or sex partners at increased risk of monkeypox .
>> People belonging to certain occupational risk groups.
