aRinze Marshall grew up in Nigeria with five boys. Being his fourth child, he was always known as the fashionable brother.

“My love for fashion started when I was a kid,” says Marshall.. “My mom always told me I was as fashionable as my dad. That’s been special since he passed away when I was only 10.”

Marshall, who studied microbiology in college and then juggled modeling and building runways outside of class, moved to Houston from Nigeria in 2016 to meet his wife, who is from Houston.

“Houston is a part of me,” says Marshall. “This city has embraced me as much as it has embraced me. It has always felt like home. , startups, and great restaurants. Houston is expanding rapidly beyond oil, gas, and healthcare.”

So when it came time for Marshall to launch a new luxury fashion brand, it makes sense that he wanted to launch it in his own Texas backyard.

Inspiration

“I’ve always loved drawing, and I’ve always loved design,” says Marshall. “A few years ago I was going through a really tough time. Sketching bags was an escape for me. I did.”

Earlier this year, Marshall granted his wish and officially launched his label, Arinze Marshall. The Maiden collection debuted this year with two bags: the nude and red Oma bag (“beautiful” in Igbo) and the black and green Esche bag (“thinking” in Igbo).
