TOYA: Several local designers are bringing their talents to center stage. 12 NEWS’s GABRIELLA GARZA spoke with the designer as she puts the finishing touches on her collection ahead of her fashion fest tomorrow. Gabriella: For nearly 13 years, Deborah Render has been creating and designing original pieces west of Milwaukee, but the September 10th fashion show will take her designs to a new level. My granddaughter has it now and she’s in training. Gabriella: Let’s finish the new collection ahead of our first Fashion Fest MKE Her family is her inspiration. Fashion designers from all over Milwaukee prepare for the inaugural Fashion Fest MKE in Bayshore.

The 1st Annual Fashion Fest MKE shines a spotlight on local fashion designers, vendors and businesses. Her Deborah Render of GG’s Creations has been designing and selling her own work west of Milwaukee for almost her 13 years. “At the time, all Barbie doll clothes looked the same, but mine didn’t look like any other Barbie doll. I was changing,” Lender told her WISN 12 news. She is very grateful to be able to participate in this event. The event was created as a platform for Wisconsin designers and artists to showcase their creativity and original work. Fashion Fest MKE is a free, family-friendly event held at The Yard at Bayshore, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive, Saturdays from 11am to 6pm. Fashion shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. There is a children’s design area featuring jewelry making, mini apparel creation, and fashion illustrations.

Render remembers spending hours designing dresses for Barbie doll using every material she could find.

“At the time, all Barbie dolls’ clothes looked the same, but mine didn’t look like other Barbie dolls, so I ripped up my mom’s curtains and stuff and had my doll dress up.” I was doing it,” said Lender.

Render told WISN 12 News that he was very grateful to be a part of the event.

“It’s hard for an independent designer. We’re not there yet, but we’re working on it,” Render said.

The event was created as a platform for Wisconsin designers and artists to showcase their creativity and original work.

Fashion Fest MKE is a free, family-friendly event held at The Yard at Bayshore, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive, Saturdays from 11am to 6pm.

There are fashion shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm

There is also a kids design area where you can enjoy jewelry making, mini apparel production, and fashion illustrations.
