New York Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2023 Show Highlights

Five and a half days of runway shows featuring Gabriela Hearst, Prabal Gurung, Laquan Smith, Corina Strada, Batsheva and more took place at iconic locations across the city.
Wes Gordon, creative director of Carolina Herrera, unveiled a lush floral collection inspired by “Secret Gardens” inside Manhattan’s The Plaza Hotel, while designer Victor Gremaux turned rollers at Rockefeller Center’s famous rink. A tribute to another icon of hers in the city, Andy Warhol’s factory studio, the show was attended by Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker, John Legend, and Kate Moss, who watched over her from her It was an A-list affair. Gabriella Hearst hosted an airy warehouse show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard with an entertaining live performance by the Resistance Revival Chorus. Proenza Schouler set the tone for the week at Friday’s show, showcasing a laid-back summer look with fringes, crochet details and sheer fabrics. Musician Alka opened the show while Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Anok Yai also walked the runway.
Julia Fox, Laura Leon, Precious Lee, Winnie Harlow and Hari Neff joined Laila Moss as models for The Tommy Hilfiger Show on Saturday. Harlow is one of hers in Sergio Hudson’s star-studded model line-up featuring the likes of Chanel Iman, Veronica Webb, and Aoki her Lee Simmons. Ella Emhoff appeared at Prabal Gurung’s punchy show, while Lil Naz X made his runway debut at Coach as her ambassador for the brand’s new global brand, wearing his black leather vest and jelly sandals.
Another surprise celebrity debut was at the Naeem Khan show, where Kate Beckinsale capped off with a sparkling two-piece metallic ensemble.

This New York Fashion Week saw its February shows curtailed by the Covid-19 Omicron variant, with Tom Ford and many label shifts for digital presentations.
“We feel like we’re back. New York is back,” designer Laquan Smith told CNN Style.Skin-baring cutouts. “As a native New Yorker, I remember sneaking into a New York Fashion Week show uninvited. I am honored to say.” Among his attendees were Kathy, Lara Anthony and Jamaican dancehall queen Spice.
