Kolab Zuka, chairman of the Gilead Foundation and vice president of public relations for Gilead, said: “With support from leaders in education and health, we believe we have selected a group of health equity innovators to make a meaningful impact on society.”

Tiffany West, director of Advancing Health and Black Equity at Gilead, said the grant will also focus on building social connections and improving learning environments for young people.

“Research shows that inequalities in health mirror inequalities in education. We are proud to invest in programs like Morehouse’s My Brothers Teacher. This will increase the number of black male teachers in the classroom,” explained West. “We know this is very important for both the mentorship and her STEM education.” STEM areas are science, technology, engineering, and math.

Gilead said the Creating Possibilities Fund is one way the Gilead Foundation is working to achieve health equity for all.
