What Coveteur Editors Worn to NYFW

The essential purpose of Fashion Week is for editors, buyers and stylists to see the season’s latest collections. In its contemporary execution, the fashion show on the street rivals that on the runway. The opportunity to flex the muscles in your closet is a tempting one. That weird blazer with its quirky construction and silly embellishments has finally taken its rightful place among metallic tabi boots and Balenciaga-sized silhouettes. Below, our editors poetically talk about the sartorial vices we’re indulging in this week, from floral Prada to leather Agolde.

I love September for many reasons. The weather is breezy, but still warm, and the city is fast-paced and more vibrant than ever. because of my schedule packed, I rely on solid basics that can carry me through a day of various meetings and events (these Agolde leather pants are A+). Additionally, I’ve always had a weakness for layered gold jewelry and pieces with a good sense of humor. A mix-and-match effort within these areas allows you to play and express yourself.

There’s something comforting about standing outside a fashion show surrounded by people who are just as inspired by sharp knife pleats and full ballerina skirts (still thinking stuff from interiors). The ensemble of reflects the aforementioned affinities. A few pieces spontaneously popped into my head as top contenders for the week. A Qipao-style Prada top from The RealReal, a navy beaded dress (also Prada from The Realreal, did you find a theme here?), a Louis Vuitton jacket from What Goes Around Comes Around, and a hand-me-down in Paris. A Japanese-style top with a sailor suit.
These are the parts that do the work for you. It doesn’t need much other than styling. I added very simple separates: cream pants, black shorts, and an everyday shoulder bag. When it comes to footwear, I don’t want to walk around the streets in anything but flats—very chic flats. I swear by her GH Bass Weejuns styled with ankle socks this season. I’d love to try out a statement piece, but I don’t want to feel stupid. I proudly display my shy pension for mixing navy and black, so I look like myself in each ensemble. I felt it.

When it comes to wardrobe choices, fashion week or not, I’m drawn to sophisticated staples, saturated hues, and form-fitting silhouettes. What was my favorite look from last week? A ruffled midi dress in bubblegum pink paired with black ankle his boots, a body-hugging chocolate midi dress, and boldly patterned knit trousers paired with purposeful pops of color. At first glance, these costumes seem to have nothing in common, but a closer look reveals that they are timeless pieces with thoughtful details and a modern twist.
