Runners should visit the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo before heading out for the 44th Annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 9th.

As a one-stop station for race day preparation, the expo will perform packet pick-ups and share important information. The expo also includes hundreds of vendors and exhibits.

Here’s what you need to know about the expo.

When and where will the expo take place?

All participants must receive their packet prior to the marathon.

Packets will be distributed at McCormick Place, 2301 S. Martin Luther King Dr. The distribution takes place over his three days.

what do you have there?

More than 100 exhibitors will participate in the Health & Fitness Expo, according to marathon organizers. Visitors can shop for racing merchandise or check out the latest in footwear, apparel, nutrition and technology.

However, runners are not the only ones who can participate in the Expo. The Expo is open to the public and admission is free.

What’s in the runner’s packet?

A participant packet contains:

• bib number and safety pin
• timing device
• gear check tag
• Nike participants running shirt
• participant bag
• Tickets redeemable for a bottle of Goose Island beer for those 21+

What do I need to do to receive my package?

Participants must present their packet pickup email along with photo identification to receive their participant packet and participant bag.

According to the marathon website, “Participant packets and participant bags must be picked up in person during normal Abbott Health & Fitness Expo hours.” “These items (entrant packets, bags, running shirts) cannot be picked up on race day and will not be mailed. Individuals are not permitted to pick up these items on behalf of another person. Hmm.”

How to get to Expo?

Parking in Lot A and C at McCormick Place is available at a discounted rate of $12.

Public transportation is also available via the CTA and South Shore Line. The Metra Electric Line also stops at McCormick Place.
