Einstein, a Kannada theater that combines art and science, was organized by the Gombemane (puppet theater) troupe in Dharwad district. A solo performance based on the life and research of Nobel Prize-winning scientist Albert Einstein was held at his MM College of Arts and Sciences in Sirsi.

The play was written and directed by drummer and Gombemane founder Prakash Garud. The theater and puppetry center regularly conducts workshops and shows for children throughout Karnataka. “Einstein” will be performed at his two more universities in the state.

Garde’s script was based on playwright Gabriel Emmanuel’s work about Einstein. The performance, which brought English drama to Kannada, appealed to both teachers and students.

The play lasted 80 minutes with a short intermission. The role of Einstein was played by theatrical artist Pavan Deshpande, who captivated audiences with his performance.

Like many other Indian plays, the content is based on historical accounts of the lives of famous figures. The main characters in the play are noble and cherish nature. He has the ability to laugh at himself.

Plays can be classified as: Bana (genre of one act, one role Sanskrit drama), because the whole story is told by one character. Use inner monologue techniques to tell your interactions with your audience. In the play, Einstein’s recollections of the past are not in chronological order, and different emotions and memories arise at different points in time.

On the surface, speech looks like the babbling of a madman. But to the trained eye, the performance mixes the dramatic with the realistic (locadarumi), Comic (Sukumara) and tragic (avidda).

No self-beautification, only self-evaluation with corrections. The hero’s attitude is progressive and rejects dogma. The main issues highlighted in the play are those with commodification and fame.

The show opens with violin music and includes Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite song “Vaishnava Janato”.

This play is one of the best theatrical depictions of the life of a scientist. Unlike Bertholdt’s remarkable play on Brecht’s Galileo, which required at least his 30 actors, Gombemane’s play on Einstein is his performance solo.
