Senior Andre Medina kicked a 25-yard field goal with about three-and-a-half minutes left in the fourth quarter in a high school soccer showdown in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, sending Mattel Day past host Bishop Gorman to 24-2. Went down at 21.

Brown, a junior, threw three touchdowns to rally the Monarchs (2-0) and rank second nationally in MaxPreps.

Mattel Day then drove in for a go-ahead field goal by a long run from Medina behind Brown and Nathaniel Frazier.

The match was in contrast to the 2018 win against Gales, which Monarch won 42-0.

Next week, Mater Dei will play at the Centennial of Corona (2-0), beating San Diego Cathedral Catholic 42-7 on Friday. The Huskies are ranked 9th nationally by MaxPreps.

Martell Day won the section and provincial titles last season by beating Centennial 21-16 in the CIF-SS Division 1 semi-finals.
