How one Vogue editor styled a week’s worth of nautical fashion

For the past eight years, I’ve spent at least two weeks each summer on a small island off the coast of Maine called Northeast Harbor. Surrounded by the deep blue Atlantic Ocean and beautiful Acadia National Park, summer days are spent on the tennis courts, hiking trails or on the boat. At night he enjoys cocktail-his parties on neighborhood porches, or what Maine calls “porch breakers.” There’s something about being at the beach in the summer that inspires some serious sartorial inspiration for me, especially when it comes to nautical fashion. loves pairing ocean-inspired pieces with her usual vacation wardrobe essentials. This summer, I spent the first few days in Maine working from home. This meant that my attire for after-work activities had to be substandard. Day one started off strong with a linen halter top by Matthew Bruch paired with a checkered midi skirt. Styled with classic summer sandals, Castañer wedge espadrilles and tortoiseshell sunglasses by The Attico x Linda Farrow. On the second night, Charo wore an embroidered corset and skirt set by Her Louis Her Ibiza and watched the ships go by on the dock. To keep with the theme, I finished off the look with trendy fisherman sandals. I got dressed and headed to the tennis court. Vintage red sailor shorts were the centerpiece of my outfit for Day 4. Small details included anchors printed on the buttons. And finally, on Day 5, Johanna Ortiz and Bottega enlisted the help of her Veneta to dress up to attend a dear friend’s wedding.

First day
This linen halter top from Matthew Bruch is a staple in my summer wardrobe. I’m a fan of that flattering silhouette, so I have the little top in a variety of colors. Wedge espadrilles are naturally nautical, but this pair from Castañer is like a dressed-up version of boat shoes. I paired it with tortoiseshell sunglasses from The Attico x Linda Farrow.
the 2nd day
Charo Ruiz Ibiza is a brand we recently discovered this summer. I love their ruffled, feminine frocks and matching sets like this embroidered corset top and midi skirt. I styled myself in brown fisherman sandals for an evening spent watching the yachts go by on the dock. To keep my belongings safe from rough seas, I stored them in a rope-detailed shoulder bag like this one from Staud.
Third day
On day three, I hit the court in tennis white thanks to Alo Yoga’s ‘Charmed’ tennis dress and Superga sneakers. I carried my racket to the court in her green-and-white tennis bag and, after play, lounged in a retro athletic wear-inspired sweater from Tory Burch. Tip: New England summers can get pretty chilly after the sun goes down.
4th day
I got into nautical fashion in a pair of vintage 80’s red sailor shorts. To keep the look fresh, I paired it with another crop top like this one from Cult Gaia, and continued the nautical moment with espadrilles similar to Charo Ruiz Ibiza’s embroidered sandals. A red Prada bag completes the look.
Day 5
The final day of our week in Maine was for a dear friend’s wedding. Set in a botanical garden, we wanted to stay with the floral dress theme.Luckily, this lobster red maxi dress from Johanna Ortiz had a flattering high neck.・I was wearing Moby Brown Veneta stretch leather sandals.
