Noristtown, Pennsylvania – Pottstown, Boyertown, and Kimberton will be open on September 15 (Thursday, 2022) free of charge to residents living within 10 miles of the State Department’s Limerick Power Station nuclear power plant. Serves as a place to distribute potassium iodide tablets. Said Health Friday (September 2nd). No reservation or registration required.

A tablet to be taken only when approved to protect the thyroid from harmful radioactive iodine in the event of a nuclear-related emergency.

• Pottstown 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 364 King Street, Pottstown Health Center, Montgomery County.
• Boyertown 2:00pm to 7:00pm at the Keystone Steam Fire Company at 240 North Walnut St.When
• Kimberton 1-7 PM, Kimberton Fire Company Banquet Hall, 2276 Kimberton Rd.

“It is important to remember that potassium iodide should only be taken when directed to do so by state health officials or the governor, and at one of Pennsylvania’s four operating nuclear facilities. It is not a substitute for evacuation in the event of an emergency,” said Denise Johnson, Ph.

Potassium iodide, also known by the chemical label “KI,” can “add another layer of protection when directed to use,” according to the state. It can be safely used by people taking thyroid medications, children, and infants. If you are not sure whether you should take potassium iodide, ask your healthcare provider.

The package includes an instruction manual that explains the dosage, timing of administration, and storage method of KI tablets.

A similar distribution occurs for residents in the areas surrounding the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Station in Peach Bottom Township, Pennsylvania, and the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Salem Township, Pennsylvania.
