LYNN HAVEN — Golfers tee off immediately at tournaments to help local students continue their education after high school.
Panama Country Club will host a Golf for Education Charity Tournament on Sept. 17 to raise funds for the Bay Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that works with Bay District Schools to promote and support education throughout the county. .
The tournament will be a 4-man scramble. So teams of four compete to play their best shot. A majority of the proceeds will be used by the foundation to fund secondary education for selected Bay students.

“Everything we get out of this event goes directly back into education,” said Kelly Langenberg, executive director of the foundation. “Events like this also build community. It’s an opportunity to network.
Langenberg said her group funds tuition through the Take Stock in Children program.
Students who participate in the Take Stock program demonstrate academic potential, but also come from families who cannot afford college or vocational school.
More than 90 high school students are currently enrolled in this program. He also has more than 70 people who have graduated from high school and are educated.
Noting that the Panama Country Club hosts about a dozen Golf for Education charity tournaments, Langenberg said it costs $600 for teams to participate. He still has about 9 team registration slots, and currently has 16 teams registered.

The event’s title sponsor is CENTURY 21 Commander Realty, a Panama City-based real estate company.
