Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions will be infused with new talent, energy and ideas with 22 new faculty members joining for the 2022-23 academic year.

The new faculty will provide important experience that will help the College develop future health care leaders and advance its mission to improve the health of individuals and communities.

At an exciting time as the College of Health Solutions celebrates its 10th anniversary, a new faculty has arrived.th We are expanding our research and programs to meet the demands of healthcare professionals. The university has a unique structure that blends several diverse yet related health disciplines to help the community address many health challenges.

Tenured faculty and tenure-track faculty

New tenured and tenure-track faculty bring tremendous depth of academic knowledge, research, and scholarship to Health Solutions University.

• Danny Hughes, Professor of Health Systems begins in January 2023. Hughes came to college from the Georgia Tech School of Economics, where he served as Director of the Health Economics and Analysis Lab and Master’s Degree Program, and Executive Director and Senior Director of the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute. He also served as a Research Fellow. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Georgia and a BA in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

• Mindy McEntee Assistant Professor of Population Health. McEntee has taught numerous classes at the university for the past year as a postdoctoral fellow. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and an MS in Psychology from the University of New Mexico, an MS in Clinical Psychology from Towson University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Nebraska.

• Adewale Oyemi Since January 2023, he is an Associate Professor of Population and Health Sciences. Prior to ASU, he was Professor of Community Physical Therapy and Health Promotion at Maiduguri University in Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Social Health Sciences from the University of Ghent, Belgium, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Science from the University of Obafemi Awowo, Nigeria.

• Susan Russet I am a professor of exercise science. Russet was previously a professor of physical therapy at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Russet holds a PhD in Nutritional Biology from the University of Chicago and a BS in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from Bucknell University.

• Joseph Roberts He holds a PhD in Nutrition and Health Science from Emory University, a Master of Science in Nutrition and Health Science from the University of Nebraska, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from North Carolina State University. His recent teaching experience includes Georgia State University, Emory University, and Morehouse College in Atlanta.

• Taichi Suzuki From January 2023, he has been appointed as an assistant professor of nutrition and biodesign. Suzuki’s educational background includes a PhD in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona, an MS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona, and a BS in Animal Science. • Nico VerdesiasAssistant Professor of Population Health, came to the College of Health Solutions after working as a postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. Verdecias holds a PhD in Public Health from Drexel University with specialization in community health and prevention, an MS in Public Health from her SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and a BA in Psychology from Syracuse University. doing.

These new faculty bring outstanding teaching, clinical experience, and service in their respective fields to their new roles as Career Track faculty at the College of Health Solutions.

• Joshua Amber, is a Lecturer in Health Care Systems and was previously a Faculty Associate at the College of Health Solutions. Amber is completing her PhD in Public Health from the University of Arizona in 2020.

• Jade Culbertson Lecturer in Population Health. Culbertson, who holds a master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Utah, until recently served as the fitness and community wellness coordinator at Portland’s Northeast Community Center.

• Liz Harrell I started working as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Health Care System in May. Harrell holds a PhD in Nursing Practice from Arizona State University.

• Jessica Hogan Participated as a lecturer in population health. Hogan holds a PhD in Behavioral Health from her ASU and most recently Grand He was adjunct professor of psychology and business at Canyon University.

• Rajendra Khaki After working as an Associate Professor of Public Health at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal, he will be Lecturer in Population Health from January.

• Hugh Lamont After serving as Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, she will join the Clinical Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in January 2023.

• Charles Leadonis a lecturer in exercise science and was previously director of the sports science initiative for the Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball team.

• Rollin Medcalf, is a Lecturer in Health Sciences and Medical Research and most recently was an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Mexico in Taos. Medcalf holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Medical College.

• Mallory Muschaven She brings her experience as a respiratory therapist to her role as a lecturer in health sciences and medical research. Mushaben has been working at Mayo Clinic Hospital since 2020.

• Jennifer Ratigan, a clinical associate professor of language and hearing sciences, entered the university in January. A former Audiology Resident at Mayo Her Clinic Her Alix School of Medicine and a PhD in Audiology from Gallaudet University, Ratigan brings clinical and classroom experience to the role.

• Ileana Latiu Participated as a clinical associate professor in speech-language hearing science. His PhD in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences from ASU, Ratiu most recently taught at Midwestern University.

• Norma Rodriguez is a lecturer in speech-language hearing science. Rodriguez brings to this position extensive experience in speech language pathology gained from years of clinical practice.

• Travis Schlappi A Ph.D. in chemical engineering, Schlappi was an assistant professor of medical diagnostics at the Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, California.

• Indigo Young He entered the university as a clinical associate professor of speech-language hearing science. Young has been a clinical instructor at the He MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston since 2017.

• Robert Zwarich I am a lecturer in health care systems. Most recently, Zwarić was her teaching assistant at Texas Tech University.
