LAPINE, Ore. (KTVZ) — Joe Padilla, a longtime science and math teacher, has made a donation of $500 from the Mid Oregon Credit Union through the One Class at a Time program. I am so excited to start the new semester at La Pine High School.

“Like technology in our world, science equipment is being updated, and it costs money to keep classrooms up to date,” he recently explained.

Padilla students now have access to new Vernier probes for measuring UV radiation while studying the seasons.

“One of the labs we do is test the SPF of sunscreens so students can see that it actually works,” he said.

Padilla knows that hands-on learning can be more effective than what students find in books or online.

Presenting the check on September 14th meant something special to Tiffany Seiler.

NewsChannel 21 partners with credit unions as part of the One Class at a Time program. A monthly recipient of $500 is selected during the academic year. Teachers interested in applying for assistance should contact the principal with their ideas.
