Rep. Jim Hymes endorsed CHIPS and the Science Act.

As a nation, we have always been based on global competition. Before World War I, there was an arms race. In the 60’s we were in a space race with the USSR. Currently, we are embroiled in a technological race with China. Once again, we must come out on top. There is only one option to reach that goal. That is to send Rep. Jim Himes back to Congress.
We have made progress with CHIPS and scientific law. The law, backed by members of Congress, makes historic investments in semiconductor research and manufacturing, authorizing $91.7 billion in incentives. This helps the domestic industry to compete with China’s state-owned manufacturing machinery. Our supply chain, weakened by COVID-19, no longer depends on half the world.
Manufacturing incentives are already starting to work. Two major companies are adding his $42.4 billion to domestic investment, which is expected to create up to 40,000 new jobs.
Jim voted YES on this bill so we could buy America again and revive an industrialized America.
Making American-made chips reduces our dependence on foreign supply chains. The investment is expected to increase our share of global chip manufacturing to five times his. Increased domestic production leads to lower cost and higher quality technical products. Jim voted to make these products cheaper and help our great nation grow this important industry.
Jim endorsed this, but not everyone did. The vote was bipartisan, but 187 House Republicans voted against it. A majority of Republican lawmakers voted against supporting American semiconductor manufacturing. All but 24 Republicans voted against research and development of new American chips. Nearly nine of his ten Republicans voted against keeping America competitive.
Come November 8th, you’ll have the choice to fight, send Congressman Jim Hymes back to Washington, or throw away your chances for another lead. I choose to fight, for one thing.
