1 in 2: This is the lifetime risk of cancer for men. Women: 1 in 3 lifetime risk of getting cancer.

The risk of dying from cancer is 1 in 5.

20% of men die from cancer.

A woman’s risk of dying from cancer is 1 in 6.

Black men are newly diagnosed with cancer and have the highest cancer mortality rates. It’s important. The big three are lung cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer.

When talking about prostate cancer: Black men: Twice as likely to have advanced disease, prostate cancer. In fact, when I was in medical school, it was often said that a black man was very unlikely to live to be 65 or 70 and die and not get prostate cancer.

Therefore, it may not be a clinically significant cancer, but the cancer has already started to grow. can die from prostate cancer. That’s how common it is among African-American men.

So are you armed with these facts? what do i do? what is my move

1. The first thing I do is take the annual exam, right? It’s just a regular check-up once a year. Doctors can tell us exactly what we need at our age. I try to schedule around my birthday.
2. Get a blood test: PSA (prostate-specific antigen), a blood test that can screen for prostate cancer risk.
3. I am generously sharing information with my two over 50 brothers, loved ones and friends. Information is an asset.
4. Like you, we encourage the community to take action. This is a call to action. This is a community topic. We need community activation, conversation and participation.
