Schenectady, New York – Junior Robbie Michalski 2 goals, 1st year head coach Matt Brown The Dutch earned their first win for the Union College men’s soccer team on Sunday night as they beat Sage College 5–1 at College Park Field.

With two goals from Michalski, senior Evan Farr and sophomore Diego Pascal Sanchiz I also found the other side of the net.Senior Christian Rufo Farr added an assist.head coach Matt Brown Also won his first match at the helm of the Dutchman.

Following an early red card to Sage College forward just nine minutes into the game. Pascual He responded quickly on the restart when Sanchiz dribbled past a defender and shot in his box for 18 yards on the left flank, allowing the goalkeeper to go down. This was Pascual Sanchiz’s first match of the year. This gave Union a 1-0 lead.

Sage did not go away without a fight, scoring a goal in the 58th minute to cut Union’s lead to two.th minute.

Senior Evan Farr A shot rocket from a throw-in from Rufo restored the Union’s three-goal lead. Farr collected the pass and in one turn beat the goalkeeper inside the far left post, making it 4-1 for the Dutchman.Just two minutes later, the Union extended their lead during their sophomore year Alan Daniel Slamming a cross into the box from the right corner, the ball deflected off Seiji’s defender and landed behind the net, scoring an own goal. This puts him in a 5-1 union, and the result holds.

Union (1-0-1) beat Sage 14-4 in the contest, giving the Sage duo eight chances to win the corner battle as well. The Union improved to 6-0-2 in his eight meetings with the Sage College, including his last four wins against the Gators.

The Dutchman hits the road to face SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday night. Kickoff is 5 p.m. in Oneonta, NY.
