Washington, August 23, 2022 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health warning for Perdue’s frozen ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken breast tenders “gluten-free.” Clear plastic and blue dye. No recall was requested as the product is no longer available for purchase.

Frozen RTE chicken breast ‘Gluten Free’ was manufactured on July 12, 2022. The following products are subject to public health warnings. [view labels]:

• 42 oz. A plastic bag containing ‘PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS GLUTEN FREE’, ‘Best if Used By: 07 12 23’, lot number 2193 and expiry date.

The office number “P-33944” is written on the back of the plastic bag just below the “best before” date. These items were shipped to his BJ Wholesale Club retail stores nationwide.

The issue was discovered when the facility reported to FSIS that it had received consumer complaints of clear plastic bits and blue dye in its chicken tenders.

There have been no confirmed reports of side effects from consuming these products. People who are concerned about their illness should contact their health care provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer freezers. Consumers who purchase these products are urged not to consume them.These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
