The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is looking for young artists to help create the 2023 “Healthy Air Living Kids” calendar.

All San Joaquin Valley students in grades K-12 are encouraged to participate in this annual competition.

entry deadline October 14thThe winners and their work will be featured in this bilingual calendar showing how individuals can contribute to improving air quality. The district will print and distribute the calendars to schools, community groups, medical facilities and other clean air partners, as it has done in previous years.

The 2022 calendar included the work of two local students. Paul Voight, a student at Ballico Cressey Elementary School, shared the message, “Help clean the air and keep our planet green!” Benir Danielo, a Turlock Middle School student, illustrated the message, ‘Healthy air life, walking and biking to school’.

Here are some guidelines for creating a Healthy Air Living Kids calendar entry:

· 8-1/2 inches high and 11 inches wide as the paper should be laid out horizontally.

· Artwork must be in color and must be paints, pens, crayons, markers, colored pencils, or computer-generated. Bright colors are recommended.

· Artwork should contain a message about how to live a healthy air life. Examples of past messages have been: ‘Switch to electric lawn mowers’, ‘Please carpool cool to school’, ‘Don’t burn firewood, switch to gas’, ‘Kids Please don’t play while waiting at home.” school. “

· Bilingual and Spanish messages are recommended.
