Belize teachers receive formal training in digital and inclusive education, courtesy of the Organization of American States (OAS), as part of an initiative to modernize education in the country.

OAS, Belize and the non-governmental organization (NGO) Pathlight Belize have signed an agreement to facilitate training.

OAS Executive Director Luis Almagro said it is essential that teachers are well-trained on the latest advances in education.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted education in more than 150 countries, affecting 1.6 billion students. In response, many countries have implemented some form of distance learning. As the pandemic evolves, so does the response to education. Schools are now partially or fully open in many jurisdictions. Teachers play an important role, regardless of the learning method or technology available. Regular and effective pre-primary education and ongoing teacher professional development are key.
